Daylight Saving Time policy and energy consumption

Daylight Saving Time is argued to be effective in saving energy. Turkey one of the few countries that annulled clock changes and remained summertime zone 2016. Therefore, country provides a unique natural experiment test confirm this policy change. This paper studies impact on electric energy consumption load shift. We use historical electrical consumption, electricity prices, relevant atmospheric essential climate variables data between 2012–2020. adopt Multiple Linear Regression, Difference Differences Interrupted Series methodologies analyse data. shows does not lead measurable amount savings. Furthermore, it cause noticeable continuous daily shift throughout year. also claim our findings should apply such as United States, India, Japan, Australia or China, continents Africa South America, whose latitudes are 42.0° north south equator.
